Alexandrian Pearls Circular Brick Stitch Necklace

August 15, 2009

Alexandrian Pearls Necklace

Recently, I’ve been playing around with circular brick stitch. I got the idea for this pendant from a Byzantine necklace in the British Museum’s collection.

I’m considering making a tutorial for working brick stitch around a bead, but the technique is more of an art than a science. When you work around a bead, such as a round pearl, you can’t worry about being exact, you just have to toy around with it and add extra beads per stitch as necessary. Joining the different parts of the pendant together is, therefore, a bit imprecise as well.
